Tretinoin 0.025% Cream is a topical medication commonly used for treating acne and improving skin texture. Tretinion Cream 0.025% is used to treat acne and the improvement of skin appearance in relation to aging and Sun Damage. Its active ingredient, tretinoin, works by unclogging pores and promoting skin cell turnover.
Key Features:
- Acne Treatment: Tretinoin helps to reduce the number and severity of acne pimples and promotes quick healing of pimples that do develop.
- Anti-Aging Benefits: It can improve the appearance of surface wrinkles, fine lines, and dark spots by promoting collagen production and increasing cell turnover.
- Skin Texture Improvement: Helps to smooth rough facial skin and reduce excessive oil production.
How It Works:
Tretinoin is a form of vitamin A that works by irritating the skin, which speeds up the life cycle of skin cells. This process helps to exfoliate the skin, unclog pores, and promote the growth of new, healthier skin cells.
How to Use:
- Application: Apply a small amount (about the size of a pea) to clean, dry skin, usually once daily at bedtime. Use your fingertips to spread it evenly over the affected area.
- Precautions: Avoid applying to the inner lip area, inside the nose/mouth, or on cut, scraped, sunburned, or eczema-affected skin. Use sunscreen during the day, as tretinoin can increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun.
Side Effects:
- Common: Warmth or stinging right after application, skin redness, dryness, itching, scaling, mild burning, or worsening of acne during the first few weeks.
- Management: These effects usually decrease with continued use. A daytime moisturizer may help with very dry skin.
Tretinoin, also known as all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA), is a medication used for the treatment of acne and acute promyelocytic leukemia. For acne, it is applied to the skin as a cream, gel or ointment. For leukemia, it is taken by mouth for up to three months. Topical tretinoin is also the most extensively investigated retinoid therapy for photoaging.
Common side effects when used as a cream are limited to the skin and include skin redness, peeling, and sun sensitivity. When used by mouth, side effects include shortness of breath, headache, numbness, depression, skin dryness, itchiness, hair loss, vomiting, muscle pains, and vision changes. Other severe side effects include high white blood cell counts and blood clots. Use during pregnancy is contraindicated due to the risk of birth defects.
